John and Elaine Ward of Cortland were honored recently on their 60th anniversary at a family celebration at the Chop House in Howland.
John and Elaine were married Oct. 25, 1952, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Warren. They continue to be active members of the church today.
John and his brothers built the family home in 1959, where they still reside.

John retired in 1996 from Wean Industries after 46 years. His last position was manager of manufacturing. Elaine retired in 1992 after 29 years in the U.S. Postal Service. Her final position was postmaster in West Farmington.
The couple have three children, Dawn Durica of West Farmington, John H. Ward of Columbus and Judi Greaver of San Diego. They also have six grandchildren.
The family surprised the couple with a choice of a cruise to Alaska or St. Thomas, a trip to Hawaii or a guided tour of Pittsburgh.
