William J. Duca 1938-2012

BOARDMAN - William J. Duca, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, surrounded by his family.

William was born July 6, 1938, in Cleveland, the son of John R. and Dorothy Anderson Duca.

He moved to Michigan and then came to Warren in 1965 and to Boardman in 1974.

William received his bachelor's degree and master's degree in metallurgical engineering from Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Mich.

He was president of Duca Manufacturing for 34 years. He enjoyed building large scale model airplanes.

William authored numerous award-winning technical papers for the foundry industry and held several patents.

Besides his mother, Dorothy of Chaska, Minn., he leaves his wife, the former Sharon Gore, whom he married Dec. 14, 1962; his children, Cheryl and Stephen Soyka, Gerrikaye and Richard Duesenberry and Tony LaRocca, all of Canfield; three grandchildren, Anthony, Alyssa and Brianna LaRocca, all of Canfield; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Ernestine Duca of New Brighton, Minn.; his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and John Fraser of Chaska, Minn.; his sister-in-law, Freda Gentry of Augusta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Monday at Lane Family Funeral Home, Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Ave., Boardman, where friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
