BOARDMAN - A man who police say shot and killed another man who broke into his Lockwood Boulevard home Tuesday afternoon had a protection order against him.
Boardman police Capt. Donald Hawkins said that Kevin Neal, 44, told police the man who was shot breaking into his home, 38-year-old Michael Spera of Hopkins Road, had threatened him several times in the past and he had a protection order against Spera.
Police say Spera broke a sliding glass window with a brick and got into Neal's home before he was shot several times about 3:10 p.m.
The man who drove the car, Brandon S. Hosa, 28, of Eden Rock Road in Canfield, was arrested after running from police in a nearby yard and faces charges of murder, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and complicity to aggravated burglary.
