COLUMBUS - Residents across Ohio affected by damaging winds and severe weather caused by Hurricane Sandy could be eligible for emergency assistance in the form of reduced interest rates on loans, according to a release from state Treasurer Josh Mandel.

Dubbed the Renew Ohio & Rebuild Ohio Programs, $25 million is available to assist residents whose small businesses, farms and homes are damaged by severe weather.

"In the wake of the devastation that Hurricane Sandy has caused the East and New Jersey Coasts, Ohioans are on watch for flooding, high winds and severe weather," Mandel said.

The program money can be used in addition to other state and federal disaster assistance programs that might be available to victims.
