FAIRFAX, Vt. - The Rev. Marcheta P. Townsend, 69, formerly of North Bloomfield, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
She was born Jan. 24, 1943, in Columbus, the daughter of Harold and Annette Grover Pebbles.
She began her ministry in the United Methodist Church with her ordination in 1968, and has been a longtime pastor and district superintendent in the United Methodist Church.

Besides her husband, Lindsay, she is survived by her children, Lynn Townsend Mayo of Barre, Vt., Thomas Townsend of Fairfax, Vt., and Mark Townsend of Barre, Vt.; three grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Pebbles of Ohio.
A celebration of Marcheta's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Buell St., Burlington. A reception in the church fellowship hall will follow.
Friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Kidder Memorial Home, Swanton, Vt., and 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.
Interment services will take place 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Townsend family lot in the Underhill Flats Cemetery.
