MINERAL RIDGE - Robert L. "Bob" Echols, 89, passed away peacefully at 11:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
He was born March 8, 1923, in Blackstone, Va., the son of Leslie and Ethel Holbrook Echols.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he honorably served as a tank crewman and driver. He retired from General Motors, Lordstown, in 1988 after working 20 years as a storeroom attendant and assembly line worker.

Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Niles and the Niles McKinley Masonic Lodge 794.
He was a lifetime Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and enjoyed doing yard work and activities with the church. He loved and cherished the time spent with his grandson, Joshua.
Bob is survived by his wife, Clara (Horne) Echols, whom he married on May 12, 1951; a daughter, Tracy (Jerry) Butcher of Mineral Ridge; and a grandson, Joshua Butcher of Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Echols.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, where family and friends may also call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Kerr Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
