BROOKFIELD HOLDS DEDICATION: A dedication ceremony for Jesse Reeder, who was a former township resident who served in the War of 1812 and is buried in the oldest section at Brookfield Township Cemetery, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Reeder family and Brookfield Historical Society worked together to plan the event which will include the placement of a new cemetery marker from the Veterans Association. The military honor guard will take part in the ceremony. The cemetery has 43 veterans from the War of 1812 buried there. Reeder was buried in the cemetery in 1883.
GROUP TO FIGHT BLIGHT: The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Association will hold a Stand Up Against Blight starting at 9 a.m. Saturday with the demolition of a garage at 703 Samuel Ave. This is the group's first volunteer demolition project. Hats, gloves and eye protection will be provided.

OPEN HOUSE TO BE HELD: Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley Restore, 480 Youngstown Poland Road, will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with Halloween games, door prizes and fun. Those attending can come dressed in Halloween costumes.
SUTLIFF MUSEUM HOLDS OPEN HOUSE: The Sutliff Museum, located on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, will hold a Halloween open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Decorations typical of the Victorian period will grace the parlor and exhibits in the museum. Cider and cookies will be served.
WELLNESS DAY SET: A Moment for Me Yoga and Wellness Center, 8309 High St., Howland, will host a Wellness Day from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Featured during the day will be a free labyrinth walk, chair massage and reflexology. Susan Cabot of "Tastefully Simple" will provide samples of her catering, including gluten-free selections.

WOW CENTER HOSTS EVENT: The Oh Wow! Roger and Gloria Jones Children's Center, 11 W. Federal St., Youngstown, will hold ''Curious about Copernicus'' from 4:30 to 6 p.m. today. The program is about Nicholas Copernicus, who is considered to be the founder of modern astronomy. The program will explore Copernicus' life and findings with hands-on activities.
MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO BE PLACED: The unveiling of the second Brier Hill memorial plaque will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Parish, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown. The plaque project, spearheaded by Tony Trolio, was successfully completed last year, and a $10,000 check was presented to the parish. The plaque honors parents and some of the families that called Brier Hill their home from the early 1900s to mid-1950s. More than 130 families are listed.
