A silent horror classic will get live organ accompaniment Friday at Stambaugh Auditorium.
The 1922 film ''Nosferatu'' was directed by F.W. Murnau and borrows liberally from Bram Stoker's ''Dracula'' as it tells the story of a vampire named Count Orlok. It is considered one of the classics of German Expressionism on film.
Tom Trenney will provide the soundtrack for the silent film on Stambaugh's E.M. Skinner pipe organ.
Trenney, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Eastman School of Music became the first organist to with both first prize and the audience prize at the American Guild of Organists' (AGO) National Competition in Organ Improvisation in 2006. He has been featured at regional and national conventions of the AGO as well as the Organ Historical Society, the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, and the Calvin Institute of Worship.
His recordings include ''Organa Americana'' and ''Organ Ovations and Improvisations.'' He currently serves as minister of music at First-Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln, Neb.
