KINSMAN - The score was knotted at three at half, but a second-half goal by Wickliffe was the decider as the Braves fell in a boys soccer Division III Kent district semifinal, 4-3.
Badger was led by two goals from Kevin Casey. He also assisted on a goal scored by Bjorn Zoccola. Jared Meikle had 14 saves for the Braves, who finish the season at 14-3-1.
Wickliffe had goals by Anthony Severino, Nick Gmeiner and Rob Brown. The fourth goal came on a Badger own goal.
CRESVIEW 6, NEWTON FALLS 0: COLUMBIANA - Behind Derek Bable's 11th shutout of the season, the Rebels defeated Newton Falls in a Division III Youngstown district semifinal.
The Rebels now advance to take on Garfield in the district final.
Goals were scored by Tony Marr, Adam Roberts, Nick Dean and Greg Bable had three goals.
Volleyball
WINDHAM 3, NEWBURY 2: KINSMAN - It took five games, but in the end Windham is advancing to the district final with a win over Newbury in a Division IV, Kinsman district final.
The first set was close, with Newbury winning 26-24. The Black Knights also took the second set, 25-23. But the Bombers rallied in the last three sets winning 25-20, 25-18 and 15-11.
Windham was paced by Jessica Isler with 40 saves and three blocks. Brittany Knight served 19 points and Dari Heller had 29 kills.
The Bombers will now face Ledgemont in the district final.
LEDGEMONT 3, MAPLEWOOD 0: KINSMAN - Behind 12 kills each for Tamara Heller and Cassandra Ohler, the Redskins defeated Maplewood in three sets in a Division IV, Kinsman district semifinal.
The closest set was the third, in which Ledgemont won 25-19.
Maplewood was paced by Brooke Mahan, who had 12 points, two aces and a block.
Ledgemont will take on Windham in the district final.
