WOMAN OF THE YEAR RECOGNITION: Dr. Cynthia Anderson, president of Youngstown State University, will be honored as "Woman of the Year" during a special event at 5:30 p.m. today during National Business Women's Week, sponsored by the Youngstown Business & Professional Women's Club. The event will be held at Overture at DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown. The evening will include networking, dinner, basket raffle, award presentation and keynote speaker Shirley Christian J.D., president of the Mahoning County Bar Association. Cost is $30. GLASS TOPIC OF LECTURE: The second free Sutliff Museum lecture of the fall, "Gathering Up the Sunbeams: American Brilliant Cut Glass'' will be presented from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Thomas Meeting Room of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. LindaJo Hare, president of the Great Lakes Chapter of the American Cut Glass Association, will talk about American cut glass and comment on pieces that audience members bring in. She will use slides to illustrate the history, technology and art of glass cutting and will demonstrate with actual pieces from her own collection. BOOK FAIR SET: A book fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, 8747 Squires Lane N.E., Howland.

TRUNK-OR-TREAT TO BE HELD: Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel N.W., Warren, will hold a trunk-or-treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The free event will include games, crafts, a firetruck and other activities. Children can wear costumes.
PROGRAM TO DISCUSS BULLYING: Teaching children to be kind to each other and to reject bullying behavior will be discussed at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the center concourse at the Eastwood Mall, Niles during the "Be a Buddy, Not a Bully" program. The free event is part of National Anti-Bully Awareness Month. The public will have the opportunity to sign an anti-bullying pledge.
