Fire damages house in Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN - A house on the city's East Side was damaged after it caught fire Sunday afternoon, according to reports.
Police and fire crews responded to the residence at Rutledge Drive near the intersection of McCartney Road just before 1 p.m. Official said no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Time remains to sign up for cornhole tourney
WARREN - There is still time to sign up for the Make A Difference Day Cornhole Tournament.
The event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday on Courthouse Square, and there are a few different ways to get in on the fun.
The competitive singles tournament requires a $50 entry fee and will also offer a 50 percent payback in prize money. The women's singles event asks a $20 entry fee per player and promises a 50 percent payback in prize money.
There is also a long toss event. Contestants pay $5 for three cornhole bags, and the prize will go to the person who makes the longest throw into the hole. That event also will offer a 50 percent payout.
Proceeds from the tournament go to the Hope Chest Foundation 12 Ways of Christmas program.
