CANTON - Boardman's boys cross country team and Howland's Ryan Sullivan ran like they have all year - dominating.

The Spartans, which earlier this month, handily won the Federal League title, beat most of those same teams Saturday during the Division I district boys cross country meet at Malone College.

Boardman's Mark Hadley was 23 seconds faster than Sullivan, who took second.

Boardman's Alan Burns, Lake's Jacob Kernell and Wooster's Zach Humrichouser rounded up the top five.

The Spartans distanced themselves from GlenOak, 62-104. Massillon Jackson (130), North Canton Hoover (146) and Louisville (163) are moving on to Saturday's Boardman Regional.

Unfortunately, Howland missed out by three points - finishing with 165. It was one of the Tigers best finishes in school history at the Division I district.

The top five teams and top 20 individuals in both boys and girls races advanced to regionals.

Other area boys heading to Boardman are: Canfield's Rollin Bresson, Austintown Fitch's Patrick Ferguson and Bryce Baker.

On the girls side, Canfield's Emma Lunne won the district title over Louisville's Mackenzie Rankin by 9 seconds.

Lake's Laura Tweedie, GlenOak's Jen Fockler and Boardman's Jordan Grantonic rounded out the top five.

Massillon Jackson beat North Canton Hoover for the team title, 55-95. GlenOak (103), Louisville (125) and Boardman (129) are the other three teams to advance.

Austintown Fitch's Carissa Jenkins and Howland's Taylor Craigo also advanced.
