DEAR EDITOR:
If President Obama is re-elected, I can easily conceive of the president offering Gov. Romney a seat on the new administration's economic team.
I cannot envision Romney asking the advice of the president, even on the war on terrorists, in which the Obama administration has had success. The governor would not make an offer despite the fact that former presidents have often been consulted in affairs of state.
Choose Obama and you choose a president who prides himself on reaching across the aisle. He also is not quickly offended when the Republicans prove uncooperative. The past four years have been characterized by a willingness on the part of the administration to compromise. Gov. Romney has promised inflexibility to his conservative base.
