DEAR EDITOR:
As a member of the Mathews levy committee, I am appalled at the destruction and desecration of the Mathews levy signs.
Who in this community doesn't mind breaking the law, doesn't want to continue the excellence of the Mathews Schools, doesn't want the best education for our children and doesn't care about the time and effort of the members of the committee who work for the continuing excellence of our schools?
If you don't appreciate our excellent teachers and our excellent school system and if you don't care about our children, then go to the polls on Nov. 6 and cast a ''no'' vote. Put up your own signs if you wish, but leave ours alone.
Having lived in Fowler for more than 40 years and having three children educated in the Mathews Schools, I would like to see the children today get the same opportunities our children had. Our children went on to college, graduated, got excellent jobs and are doing well today. Why shouldn't children now have the same opportunity?
People need to respect the wishes of the upstanding citizens of our community.
Anna Hirschinger
