Jim and Shirley Hill celebrated their 50th anniversary by taking a trip to Alaska in August and renewing their wedding vows at St. John's Lutheran Church in Champion.
Jim and Shirley were married Oct. 20, 1962 at St. John's.
Following their nuptials, the couple were honored at a party in the social hall of the church, hosted by their children, Ken (Carrie) Hill of Aurora, Ill., Bev (Tom) Pinkerton of Tacoma, Wash., and Kathy George of Newton Falls. They also have six grandchildren.

Shirley retired after 28 years working at the Newton Falls Public Library. Jim retired from General Motors Corp. after 30 years.
