Paint a scary jack o’lantern

PUMPKIN PAINTING PARTY SET: The Newton Falls Optimist Club will host the 12th annual pumpkin painting party from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Newton Falls Community Center, Quarry Street. Cost is $3 per person, with children 12 and younger admitted free. There will be crafts, games, candy and Chinese auction.

WORKSHOP PLANNED AT CENTER: The Youngstown Historical Center Archives / Library will hold a fall workshop from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Youngstown Historical Center, 151 W. Wood St. The theme is "Capturing Your Family's Oral History," presented by Dr. Donna DeBalsio.

The Youngstown History Department will help the participants plan and record oral history stories of family members and friends. Call 330-941-1314 or 330-941-1433. Cost is $10 per person.

RELAY FOR LIFE TO HOLD FEST: The Liberty Relay For Life will hold an Autumn Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at W.S. Guy Middle School Commons. Activities will include a fire truck demonstration, Halloween costume parade at 11:30 a.m., trick-or-treat at 12:15 to 1:30 p.m., and other activities. There will also be crafts.

AGENCY HOLDS TRUNK SALE: Stop One Place Help is Available (SOPHIA) will hold a trunk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Proceeds will benefit the needy of Trumbull County. Vendor space is $15 or two spaces for $25.

RECOGNITION BANQUET PLANNED: Bezaleel Assembly 19, Cleveland, will host the 2012 State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler Recognition Banquet on Oct. 27 at the Cleveland Hilton East Hotel, Beachwood.
