KINSMAN - Mineral Ridge knows they'll have to get a lot better to face top-seeded Ledgemont Saturday.
Although the Rams rolled through Bloomfield, 3-0, coach Jennifer Staunton said her team has plenty of work to do.
Mineral Ridge was getting used to Badger High School's gym during Tuesday's Division IV volleyball sectional semifinal.
"Concentrating on our serving and passing," Staunton said. "Our setting has been shaky at times. That's the main thing, getting used to the lighting and gym and the net - that type of net is kind of loose."
Mineral Ridge's leading server was McKenzie Garland with 17 points.
"She's done a nice job, place the ball pretty good," Staunton said.
Mineral Ridge (11-11) rolled through the first two games, 25-9, 25-8.
Then, Bloomfield came back to take a 4-3 lead in the third game, but Mineral Ridge took a 6-5 advantage and outscored the Cardinals (0-15) 10-2 to end up winning 25-15.
"I think we were nervous the first two games," Bloomfield coach Dave Adams said. "I don't know what it was. When they want to play, they can play. I think we could've beat them, or at least gave them a better game."
Mineral Ridge is hoping for a better game Saturday against Ledgemont.
"It's going to get much harder," Staunton said.
