Fire in house displaces
family from Warren
WARREN - A Warren woman and her children are living at a hotel after an early morning fire on Monday.
Firefighters were called about 3:30 a.m. to 2426 Montgomery Ave. N.W., where a blaze broke out in the kitchen of the one-story home. The kitchen sustained heat and fire damage, with smoke damage throughout the home. Fire crews were at the scene until 5:40 a.m.
Damage was estimated at $50,000.

Youngstown man featured in TLC special
Youngstown resident Ed Port will be featured on the special ''My Giant Face Tumor,'' which will be broadcast at 9 p.m. Wednesday on the cable network TLC.
Port suffers from neurofibromatosis, a disorder that causes tumors to grow uncontrollably along nerve shafts, and it has affected the left side of his face.
The special focuses on Port and another person who has the disease and their efforts to raise the money needed and deal with insurance companies as they seek treatment from Dr. McKay McKinnon, a specialist in cranio-facial surgery.
Haberstroh recognized
by state association
NILES - Albert Haberstroh, a member of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center's Governing Board, has been recognized for his service to the Ohio School Board Association.
Van Keating, OSBA director of management services, presented Haberstroh with a plaque thanking him for his contributions as a member of the OSBA Board of Trustees. Haberstroh serves on the OSBA Federal Relations Network, Delegate Assembly and Rules Committee, and is a member of the Northeast Region Executive Committee.
He was recognized at a board meeting on Oct. 8.
Haberstroh has been a school board member for 19 years. He served three terms on the Southington Local School Board, beginning in 1993. He joined the Trumbull County Educational Service Center Governing Board in 2008.
Ribbon-cutting set
for revitalized units
GIRARD - A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. today at 506 Washington St. to display one of six units recently purchased and rehabilitated by the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
Julie Green of the Trumbull County Planning Commission said six units, including four single-family homes in Brookfield, Liberty and Girard and one duplex in Howland, were funded through the county commissioners Community Development Block Grant Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
Foreclosed homes were purchased and rehabilitated per program guidelines for the purpose of providing affordable housing opportunities for low-income families.
County and city officials are scheduled to attend.
