WARREN - Ameriprise Financial has designated National Day of Service to provide service and encourage donations to Feeding America.
Lindsay Wolf, associate financial adviser with Shortreed and Associates, said the group has worked with Trumbull County charities including the Warren Family Mission and Trumbull Mobile Meals.
In the past two years, the company has partnered with Andrea Ferenac, Howland High School Interact adviser, and donated more than $20,000, collected thousands of food items and logged more than 100 hours of service.
Wolf said Lakeview schools has committed to to join forces and help having contacted Jamie Brown of Lakeview Middle School and Michael Detoro of Lakeview High School .
''I'm very excited about our prospects and what we may do this year,'' she said.
Wolf said this year's project is being held today through Nov. 16 with Ameriprise Financial, Shortreed and Associates, Howland High School and Lakeview Schools coming together to collect nonperishable food items and monetary support for Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley's Mobile Pantry program.
On Nov. 16, clients and student volunteers will be at the Second Harvest Food Bank, while others will be at the Howland and Cortland pantries to unload and sort the food collected by the schools.
Wolf said there will be competition between Howland High School and Lakeview Schools to collect nonperishable items to stock the local food pantries in both Howland and Cortland. All items collected will be presented to a representative of Second Harvest on Nov. 16 at the office of Shortreed and Associates.
Wolf said that $1 dollar donated to the mobile pantry buys $15 worth of food. Shortreed and Associates has committed to donate $3,000 to the pantry. In addition, Ameriprise will match and donate $1 to Feeding America for every dollar donated by the group.
