CHAMPION - Shirley C. Carey Guesman, 83, died Sunday morning, Oct. 14, 2012, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.
She was born April 25, 1929, in Warren, the daughter of the late Nelson and Florence Evans Chappell. She had been a lifetime Warren area resident.
Shirley was a 1948 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She worked for 18 years on the production line and as an inspector at Packard Electric Corp.

Shirley had been active with Trumbull New Theatre, was a member of SCOPE, enjoyed playing cards and was a member of area card clubs.
She was a member of Wildare United Methodist Church.
Shirley is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Dean) Kappas of Cortland; three sons, Howard (Susie) Carey of Oklahoma City, Jeffrey (Lorraine) Carey of the Cayman Islands and Patrick (Robin) Carey of Champion; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one brother, James (Kathy) Chappell of Champion.
Her husband Glessner Guesman, whom she married Oct. 15, 1976, preceded her in death in 1987. One brother, Nelson Chappell Jr. and one sister, Nancy Fullwiler also have preceded her in death.
The memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Wildare United Methodist Church at 7211 N. Park Ave. with Pastor Tal Lewis officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wildare United Mehodist Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
