VIENNA - Dr. James C. Haun, M.D., 48, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Hospice House, surrounded by his family, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born Aug. 21, 1964, in Warren, the son of James R. and Isabel K. Haun.
Jim was a 1982 graduate of Mathews High School and then attended Case Western Reserve University, majoring in pre-medicine. He obtained his degree in medicine in 1993 from NEOUCOM in Rootstown.

Jim served as head of Family Practice Medicine at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for several years. He practiced family medicine for the last 19 years at his office in Howland and found great joy in treating and healing his patients of all ages. He knew from a young age that he wanted to practice medicine and continued to heal patients even while battling his own illness.
Jim was a member of Jerusalem Masonic Lodge 19 F&AM in Hartford and the American Medical Association.
Besides practicing medicine, he was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, crossword puzzles and spending time at the ocean.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Wendy D. King Haun of Vienna; one son, Seth James Haun at home; one stepson, Zackary Mayo of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his parents, James and Isabel Haun of Fowler; siblings, Dr. Greg (Sharla) Haun of Aurora and Cindy (Todd) Williams of Fowler; and many special friends, aunts and uncles who helped care for Jim during his illness. He is also survived by many cousins and his nieces and nephews, with whom he enjoyed spending time.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland. Calling hours will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Joe Nevin will officiate. Masonic services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be at Dugan Cemetery in Fowler.
