Packard Museum hosts 'Vampire Ball'
Tickets are on sale now for ''The Vampire Ball'' on Oct. 20 at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren.
''The Vampire Ball'' is a murder-mystery musical performed by the Random Acts Troupe of Toledo. The production features audience participation, including sing-alongs and dance-alongs.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30, which includes museum admission, cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres and the production. For tickets or more information, call 330-394-1899.
Pooches celebrate Howl-O-Ween at park
The fourth Howl-O-Ween Dog Walk and Costume Parade is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Mosquito Lake Dog Park on State Route 305 in Bazetta.
Pet owners are encouraged to bring their dogs in costume for the parade and to compete in such categories as cutest, scariest, most original and looks most like owner. Way Back Farm Photography will be taking pictures, and there will be doggie games and doggie door prize drawing.
A suggested donation of $10 is requested, and proceeds will benefit the park.
Talent showcase set for Liberty
Local performers will be showcase at the U.n Act Fest on Saturday at Monteen's Southern Cuisine, 3807 Belmont Ave., Liberty.
Festivities start at 1 p.m. with a family open mic featuring singer Carla Gipson. Other performers during the day include Tribe Of Eos, Monica Beasley Martin, Bernadette Lim, Renegade 330, Tre. C, Quotes Dawson, Jaye Mills, JQuest, Polyculture and Brandon Martin. The event also will feature an art gallery curated by Lezlie Thorndike and a costume dance party at 11 p.m.
Admission is $5.
Top Hat offer dinner with the Addams
Top Hat Productions will present an interactive dinner theater production with a creepy and kooky clan at the Fairview Arts & Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, Youngstown.
''Dinner with the Addams Family'' has Gomez and Morticia Addams (from the Charles Addams' comics that spawned a successful television series and film franchise) serving as host and hostess for an evening with Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Grandmama, Pugsley and Lurch. The cast features Bill Marr, Julie Palumbo, Julie DeSalvo, Carlos Rivera, Anna Marshall, Jack Kuczek and Jerry Letts.

Peru trip offered as public radio perk
WYSU-FM (88.5) will give away at trip to Peru and Machu Picchu as part of its fall fund drive, which starts on Tuesday.
Everyone who pledges support to WYSU (either as a new member, a renewing member or with an additional gift) through Oct. 19 will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets for the May 2013 trip through Go Ahead Tours. And all web pledges made at www.wysu.org will qualify for a partial match courtesy of IDMI.net.

Documentary filmmaker speaks at Unitarian church
Documentary filmmaker Dorothy Fadiman will speak at 2 p.m. Sunday at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St.
Fadiman will discuss her work and the fight for reproductive rights and show excerpts from her films, including ''From the Back Alleys to the Supreme Court & Beyond'' and ''Stealing America: Vote by Vote.'' Fadiman was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject for her film ''When Abortion Was Illegal: Untold Stories.''

CJO amps up for concert
The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra's electric ensemble, led by Warren native Sean Jones, will feature the jazz fusion sounds of the 1970s, '80s and '90s at a performance at 8 p.m. Friday at the 14th Street Theatre, 2037 E. 14th St., Cleveland.
Jones is artistic director of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and spent six seasons as lead trumpet player in the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Wynton Marsalis.

Schroth series brings pianist to Kent
Pianist Arnaldo Cohen will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Kent State University in Kent as part of the Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The Schroth series was established in 2001 with a $1 million gift by Cecile ''Cil'' Draime and her late husband, David ''Max'' Draime, in honor of their friend Thomas Schroth, who died in 1997. Schroth was a Niles architect whose work includes Trumbull New Theatre in Niles and the Butler Trumbull Branch. He also was an actor, artist and enthusiastic supporter of the arts.
Cohen's concert also celebrates the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music acquiring its All-Steinway designation after completing its Steinway campaign. The concert will be in Cartwright Hall's University Auditorium. Admission is free. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 330-672-ARTS.
