MASSILLON - Howland's girls golf team shot a 386 to place 12th at Tuesday's Division I district golf tournament at The Legends of Massillon.
Angelica Maggio shot a 44-46 (90) to pace the Tigers. Hannah Buzelencia shot a 46-48 (94), Haleigh Guerrero had a 52-45 (97), Mo Preston shot a 51-54 (105) and Sarah Brindley had a 55-51 (106) to round out the Howland scoring.
Canfield shot 352 to take second, missing out on state by two strokes. The top five teams headed to state on Oct. 19-20 at the Ohio State University Gray Course. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin shot 351 to claim the final team slot.
Massillon Jackson, which had medalist Cassie Pantelas (71), shot 313 to win the district title. Magnificat (315), Medina Highland (321), North Canton Hoover (343) and ND-CL were the top five teams.
Canfield's Christina Cooper was the low person on the team with 42-41 (83). Lianna Tucci 46-43 (89), Kerra Loomis 42-48 (90), Michele Whiteleather 44-46 (90) and Olivia DeMartino 51-52 (103) round up the Cardinals scoring.
Geneva's Danielle Nicholson, Wadsworth's Alice Ho and Kent Roosevelt's Kasey Nielsen all shot 75, while Roosevelt's Kelly Nielsen and Avon Lake's Nikolette Schroder each shot 77. All five are going to state.
