CORTLAND - A special election for two supervisors for the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St.
Three candidates running for the two, three-year terms are Nick Bellas of Warren, Richard Houck of Newton Falls and Peter Kepner of Hartford.
Mike Wilson, director of the district, said following the election will be an awards ceremony honoring individuals, farmers and businesses for their conservation activities.
Wilson said the "Friends of the Land Conservation Awards" ceremony includes the kick-off orientation session to a new conservation initiative from the Ohio SWCD Federation called the "4-R Tomorrow" program.
The SWCD provides leadership in promotion, enhancement and protection of natural resources.
Also, the SWCD is hosting the annual Farm Foliage tour, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Mesopotamia.
