WARREN - Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, was a beautiful fall morning when the heavens opened their gates to welcome Nedra Mae Given, 78, peacefully home ... she was with her family.
Nedra was born Sept. 18, 1934, the daughter of Arminta Adeline Davis and Samuel French Young in Dille, W.Va. Nedra was a caregiver who dedicated her life to helping people.
She volunteered her time at Fairhaven School, Contact Community Connection and at the Howland Community Church's Free Fellowship Meal. Nedra worked at Isaly's as a pharmacy assistant and at the Safety Store at Packard Electric.

One of the many highlights of her life was being a stand-in for Shelly Winters in the movie "An Unremarkable Life" that was filmed in Sharon, Pa.
On Dec. 14 1951, Nedra married John Edward Given, and they had three children, Evelyn Given Coe of Cortland, Samuel B. (Patricia) Given and Lori Jo Given of Warren. Nedra also had two grandchildren that she cherished, Alex and Chelsea Coe.
Nedra attended Howland Community Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Capt. George A. Young, USMC; and two sisters, Glenna Shanks and Noralee McMillion.
Nedra is survived by her loving husband, John; children; grandchildren; a brother, Master Sgt. Carlos G. Young of Eagle River, Alaska; and several special nieces and nephews.
The Given / Coe family would like to express sincere gratitude to Community Skilled Healthcare Centre and Hospice of the Valley for their love, compassion, expert care and devoted attention to their loved one.
Family and friends will be received to celebrate her life from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, immediately followed by a memorial service at McFarland and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Rozier of Hospice of the Valley officiating.
