Neva J. Basista
Later, Neva was employed by A & P grocery store in Struthers and was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Struthers Northside Club.
Her family would like to say that Neva was the most loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a fantastic cook. She lived to love and loved to live. Her sweet and loving words made all who know her feel loved, appreciated and lifted. She was also known for her delicious apple squares and wedding soup, but it's the excitement in her voice that will be missed the most. She lived her life as Christ teaches ... she loved.
Her husband, William Basista, whom she married April 29, 1950, passed away Aug. 24, 1995.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, George (Beth) Basista of Boardman and William (Cheryl) Basista of Mineral Ridge; her grandchildren, George (Rachel) Basista of Youngstown and Kristen Basista of Mineral Ridge; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Reid Basista; step-grandchild, Michael (Emily) Cuccareese of Boston; her sister, Rose Labate of Mineral Ridge; her brother, John (Mary) Stabile of Boardman; her sister-in-law, Mary Stabile of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Basista; her sisters, Delphine Slanina and Corsina Liberator; her brothers, Leroy Stabile, Joseph Stabile and Salvatore (Sam) Stabile; and special friend, Robert Koren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wasko Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Hospice Nurse Joann and the staff of Hospice of the Valley for the loving care they gave to their mother.
Should friends desire, monetary donations may be made in Neva's name to Hospice of the Valley.
