AUSTINTOWN - Viola M. Franco, 84, died at 6:44 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown.
She was born May 19, 1928, in Youngstown, the daughter of Louis and Annette Monaco Putigano.
Viola was of the Catholic faith. She was a homemaker, and her greatest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them, cooking her famous meatballs and sauce on Sundays, bingo, playing cards with her friends and doing her crafts.

Her husband, Joseph J. Franco, whom she married Feb. 28, 1948, died March 30, 1996.
She will be deeply missed by her three sons, Joseph N. (Rebecca) Franco of Howland, Victor (Pauline) Franco of Austintown and Gary (Marianne) Franco of McDonald; a daughter, Linda (Dennis) Mesik of Austintown; three brothers, Robert (Victoria) Putigano of Girard, Santo (Sandy) Putigano of Niles and Mario "Jim" (Phyllis) Putigano of New Castle, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Gina Franco, Angela Jones, Joseph N. (Andrea) Franco Jr., John M. (Amy) Franco, Elise (Jon) Moffett, Karlie Franco, Michael Pasquale, Erica (Brian) Eynon and Stephen Mesik; and five great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Christopher, Michael, Joseph B. and Lenny.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. James Walker officiating.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
