Maplewood wins Legends; McDonald 2nd in Division II

The Maplewood and McDonald boys cross country teams finished 1-2 in Division II in The Legends meet, which was held Saturday at Trumbull County Fairgrounds.

The Rockets won with 49 points, while the Blue Devils had 61.

Individually, Bobby Johnson of McDonald won with a time of 16:21.8. Teammate Patrick Kunkel was second (16:21.9) and Maplewood's Wyatt Hartman was third (16:39.3).

McDonald was third in girls Division III, while Gilmour won with 55 points. The Garfield girls were second in Division II and the Harding girls were 13th in Division I.

The McDonald boys also competed in Division III and placed third.

St. Ignatius won the boys Division I team title and Gilmour won the boys Division III. For the girls, St. Vincent-St. Mary won Division I and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy won Division II.

MEDINA CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL: MEDINA - Howland's Ryan Sullivan place third at Saturday's event (16:24.00) to lead the Tigers boys team to a second-place finish with 110 points.

Teammate Connor Dotson was 18th (17:14.30)

Host Medina won with 74 points.

Howland's Taylor Craigo was seventh (20:12.50) to pace the Tigers girls team to a 11th-place finish (247 points).

Solon beat Magnificat for the title, 76-91.

STOW BULLDOG INVITATIONAL: STOW - Austintown Fitch's Bryce Baker was sixth (17:26.0) and Canfield's Alec Kennedy was seventh (17:31.7) in the boys regular varsity race.

Canfield took second (94 points), while Fitch was third (130).

Boardman's Jordan Gratonic was fourth (20:27.5) and Fitch's Carissa Jenkins took fifth (20:33.1) in the girls regular varsity race.

Boardman took second (109), Canfield was 11th (276) and Fitch was 12th (286).
