WARREN - A dedication Monday will unveil the latest Ohio Historical Marker in Trumbull County - commemorating the training camp established in Warren at the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861.
The 11 a.m. ceremony will be held at Harding High School at the site of the original recruitment camp for soldiers in Trumbull County.
Sally Thomas of the Civil War 150 Committee said the long-awaited historic marker will officially recognize the first enlistment camp for volunteers from the county.
The marker will be the 25th installed in Trumbull County by the Ohio Historical Society.
Camp Hutchins was located on what is now Warren G. Harding High School's campus. It was named after area Congressman John Hutchins.
The marker will be unveiled near the corner of Elm Road and Panther Drive.

Dr. Ken Lawrence of Orwell, who is a recognized authority on the Ohio 6th Volunteer Cavalry, will talk about the role of Camp Hutchins and the men who went from there into the war.
Wendell Lauth, who is in charge of the dedication, said Hutchins was an attorney who had served as Trumbull County clerk of courts and as a member of the first Warren Board of Education, among his various community service roles.
Also attending the ceremony will be Mayor Doug Franklin and Warren City Schools Superintendent Michael Notar. The Warren G. Harding band and choir will provide music.
The event is in part with the 150th anniversary series of events to provide the history of local participation from 1861 to 1865.
Lauth said the Warren training site was active during the fall of 1861 to prepare soldiers to serve under the banner of the 6th Ohio Volunteer Calvary Regiment. More than 800 men were encamped and trained in Warren during October to December 1861 and departed for active duty at the end of the year.
Lauth and the Sutliff Museum Civil War 150 Committee have made the arrangements for obtaining the marker and planning the dedication program.
Community support for the marker came from Hellenic Society Byzantium, Mahoning Valley Civil War Roundtable, Trumbull County Historical Society, Bristol Historical Society, Warren Library Association and Friends of the Sutliff Museum as well as members of the CW 150 Committee and the Ohio Historical Society.
In case of rain, the program will be moved into the high school library.
