William B. Lewis 1930-2012

BROOKFIELD - William B. "Bill" Lewis, 82, formerly of Ashtabula, went home to be with his Lord at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, while a patient in the emergency room of Forum Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Bill was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Ashtabula, the son of John B. and Margaret A. Sloan Lewis.

He was a member of the Shiloh Full Gospel Church in Girard and was a member of the Men's Auxiliary of the church.

A resident of this area for the past 24 years, he had been employed by the Ashtabula Hyde and Leather for 14 years, and later, with his wife, by Simko Management of Girard, in apartment management, and for Kwartler Properties, a New Jersey-based Company.

With his wife, he had a Gospel ministry for several years, singing Southern Gospel music in Ashtabula and southern Ohio.

He loved animals and was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed classic car shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Romaine Lewis; a stepdaughter, Barbara "Buffy" Colleen; a sister, Melissa Zima; and a son-in-law, Dave Francis.

Bill is survived by his wife, the former Lorraine Bobo, whom he married Oct. 25, 1988; a son, Joseph Michael Lewis of Ashtabula; two daughters, Suzanne Francis of Alliance and Marion (Brad) Luce of Ashtabula; two stepdaughters, Beva (Ken) Zebrasky of Salem and Beth Castner of Cambridge; a sister, Marilyn Raymond of Euclid; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Nicholas Furrie Jr. officiating, in the church, 1310 Shannon Road, Girard, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and then an hour before the services Wednesday, all in the church.

Burial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.

In lieu of flowers, monumental contributions may be made to the family.

Arrangements and care have been entrusted to the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, 614 Warren Ave., Niles.
