NORTH BLOOMFIELD - Gloria A. Garrison, 90, died at her home Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.
She was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Forestville, Md., the daughter of William and Essie Smoot.
She was a graduate from secretarial college, were she learned the skills of courtroom stenography and was employed at Crispus Attucks for 17 years.

Gloria was both a mother and friend to everyone she met. She and her late husband were foster parents for 22 years, providing a loving home and hope for many children.
She enjoyed cooking and caring for others. She loved her children, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Theodore Evans, Saundra Lyons and Ja-Tise Garrison of North Bloomfield, William Evans of Perris, Calif., and Phyllis Jefferson of Cleveland Heights.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Garrison; son, Nathaniel Garrison Jr.; and siblings, Madelyn Bryant and Augustus Smoot.
A private committal service of her ashes will be held at the Brownwood Cemetery in North Bloomfield.
Service handled by the Paine-Guerriero Funeral Home in Orwell.
