WILLIAMFIELD - Gilbert Jay Thompson, 91, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.
He was born on April 24, 1921, in Richmond, the son of Maxwell Chester and Ruby Luella Kunz Thompson.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Dr. Thompson was in private veterinary practice in Conneaut and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah K. Teleha of Boardman and Amy R. Calladine of Mecca; three sons, Maxwell M. of Cleveland, Tenn., Mark G. of Sheffield and Jay E. of Hubbard; two sisters, Frances C. Arnold of Lake City, Pa., and Ruth M. Garvey of Tavares, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren with three more on the way.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his sister.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service in Andover, where friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
