CORTLAND - Patricia J. "Patty" Swistok, 63, went home to be with the Lord at 3:31 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Cortland Healthcare Center.
She was born May 14, 1949, in Warren, the daughter of John and Matilda Mathe Swistok.
Patty was a special needs person and was very special to her family and friends. She enjoyed social activities and spent most of her adult life working at Fairhaven Workshop.
She is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Dorazio of Pittsburgh, Margaret Horvat of Cortland and Charlotte Tancre of Snellville, Ga.; and one brother, Joseph Swistok of Niles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eleanor DeVinney and Mary Ann Watson; two brothers, John Swistok and Donald Swistok; one niece, Melissa Watson; and two nephews, Brett DeVinney and David Tancre.
Patty was the aunt to 30 nieces and nephews and a great-aunt to numerous more. During her lifetime, she always made special efforts to inquire about them with much enthusiasm. She was very fond of them all and never forgot a detail about them.
She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
A funeral Mass officiated by the Rev. G. David Weikart will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, 103 N. Maple St., Orwell.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Fairhaven Foundation, 45 North River Road, Niles. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Arrangements are by Paine-Guerriero Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell.
