WARREN The YWCA of Warren, 375 North Park Ave., will mark the National Week Without Violence with two free seminars covering human trafficking and conflict management.

''Bringing the Issue of Human Trafficking Into the Light'' will be 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 15, and ''Conflict Management Skills for Creating an Effective and Safe Atmosphere for Our Children'' will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18.

Danette Palmer, director of development / marketing for the YWCA of Warren, said the Week Without Violence is a nationwide annual campaign that highlights alternatives to violence in homes, schools, workplaces and communities. The week will be marked Oct. 15 to 21.

Theresa Flores - an American trafficking survivor, licensed social worker and author of ''The Sacred Bath'' and ''The Slave Across The Street'' - will give the presentation on human trafficking. It will explore the problem of human trafficking domestically and globally. Trafficking is the fastest growing organized crime in the world that puts youths especially at risk. This presentation will expose the issue, the risks it poses to youths and what can be done about it. Participants will learn to recognize the signs and to empower students to avoid becoming victims.

The conflict management workshop is for social workers, childcare providers, school personnel and others who work with children. The workshop will be presented by Jennifer Batton, director of the Global Issues Resource Center. The workshop will provide an overview of three basic conflict management models generally used: curriculum integration, mediation and conflict management as a classroom management tool. Free activities that can be used to train youths and adults will be provided, as well as concrete examples of how to integrate the skills into your current curriculum and management strategies. Registration is limited to the first 30 registered participants.

Palmer said the Martini-Martin Trust provided the funding to host the two events. For information or to register for Conflict Management Skills for Creating an Effective and Safe Atmosphere for Our Children, call Kavon Wright by Oct. 4 at 330-373-1010, Ext. 11, or email associate@ywcaofwarren .org.
