AJAX RETIREES TO MEET: Retirees of Ajax Magnethermic will meet 1 p.m. Tuesday at Station Square, 4250 Belmont Ave., Liberty Township. Guests are welcome.

HOWLAND RETIREES TO MEET: Howland Schools Retirees will meet 11 a.m. Tuesday at Enzo's. Cost of the lunch, payable at the door, is $10.

All Howland Schools retired personnel, classified and non-classified and spouses / guests are welcome to attend the monthly meetings. Those not receiving the mailings with a response card are requested to call 330-856-5226 by the Saturday prior to the meeting.

A collection of school supplies, non-perishable food, etc. will be delivered to Beatitude House.

For retirees who would like to receive the monthly newsletter and updated directory, the yearly fee of $10.50 is due by or at the October meeting and can be paid with cash or check. Call 330-856-5226 for instructions on paying by mail.

PROGRAM SEEKS VOLUNTEERS: The Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for volunteers.

Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors.

The TRUMBULL COUNTY NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR THE ELDERLY is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 11 locations throughout Trumbull County. These sites provide a meal and the opportunity for socialization. Donations will be accepted.

Any senior citizen 60 and older and his or her spouse are welcome for lunch at any of the following sites:

FOWLER-VIENNA SENIOR CITIZENS: The group meets 9:30 a.m. or later every Thursday at the Fowler Community Center to play cards and games, to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, and for a 50-50 raffle and meals. Special meals are served on the fourth Thursday of the month. Cost is $3 each. All those 55 or older are welcome. Annual dues are $12.

LORDSTOWN SCOPE

THE KINSMAN SENIOR CITIZEN NUTRITION SITE is open every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to seniors 60 or older or their spouses. Meals are served about noon at the Kinsman Fire Hall and donations are accepted. Doors open at 10 a.m. For information on meals, call site manager Dollie Davis at 330-876-5123.

Cards and bingo are played every day and singing is on Wednesdays. To attend, call Davis two days prior.

JOHNSTON SENIOR CENTER

CHAMPION SCOPE

Big Ocktoberfest includes a yard sale in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations are accepted for the sale. Please mark your asking price on articles being donated for the sale. Entertainment by John Ruman. Polka music and sandwiches. Cost is $3.50 for members, $4 for non members. No early birds. Donations will be accepted on Oct. 12 or 15.

NILES SCOPE SENIOR CENTER

The Center is sponsoring a "Pound Party" for the benefit of Niles Community Services Food Pantry. It will be held noon Thursday at the Niles SCOPE Senior Center.

All participants are requested to bring a pound of staples to the party in lieu of a charge for lunch. The items will be donated to Niles Community Services Food Pantry for the benefit of the residents of Niles. Some suggestions for donations are: peanut butter, jelly, tuna, soup, canned fruit, cereal, toilet paper, bar soap, or any kind of household soap, toothpaste, etc.

The entertainment will be provided by Dan's Drumming Circle.

The senior center, which will provide a free lunch and entertainment for those attending, requests that anyone interested please call and sign up so there is adequate food for lunch.

The Center will be offering a fall series of computer classes for Trumbull County seniors over 60 years old. The free introductory/orientation class is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The remaining classes will be $2 per person per session.

All skill levels are welcome. Those owning laptops are encouraged to bring them to the class. A special one-time keyboarding class ($2 per person) is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 5. Please call to register.
