Santone
She previously had worked for the U.S. Postal Service at various post offices in the area as a clerk.
She enjoyed gardening and taking care of animals, especially horses, and loved watching science fiction movies and TV.
For many years she, along with her husband, Tony, shared a lifestyle and the joys and self-sufficiency of homesteading, not common to her generation. They raised and sold flowers and vegetable plants in the spring, produce in summer, and had an autumn season of pumpkins and other fall items at their Newton Township residence. They raised a variety of farm animals, which helped provide for their large family. Cooking, canning and freezing in large amounts was an everyday routine. She will now be returned to the earth which was so much a part of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony "Tony" Santone, whom she married Aug. 26, 1978; eight children, Shawn Johnson of Newton Falls, Lantz Johnson of San Jose, Calif., Robin Johnson of Ravenna, Chad (Heidi) Santone of Spokane, Wash., Heather Santone of Warren, Anthony "TJ" Santone Jr. of Warren, Joshua Santone of Warren and Jennifer Santone of Lake Milton; nine grandchildren, Armand, Alex, Chris, Gabe, Jacob, Khyra, Nate, Samantha and Joseph; a brother, Leo Hinkle Jr. of Middletown; and a sister, Pyna Stidham of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lillian Hinkle.
Memorial calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren.
