NILES - Thomas Gavin, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at UPMC Horizon Greenville, Pa.
He was born Feb. 13, 1934, in Bigbee Valley, Miss., the son of John and Savannah Tate Gavin.
He was retired from Youngstown Sheet & Tube and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Thomas B. Gavin of Niles; a daughter, Teresa Pettis of Warren; a brother, Willie Gavin of Youngstown; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Udyvie Gavin, and one brother.
A service of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sibley-Murray-Ferebee Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
