Martha Jane Nay 1934-2012

CORTLAND - Martha Jane Nay, 78, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

She was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Bower, W.Va., the daughter of the late William A. Furby and the late Hazel C. Skidmore Furby.

Martha was a 1952 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School in Mill Creek, W.Va. Her family would like to say that she was an extremely giving person. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and an incredible grandmother. She embraced being a homemaker and loved to take care of her family. She enjoyed cooking and had a huge heart for animals as well. In recent years, Martha really enjoyed attending her grandchildren's various activities and was a regular at their different sporting events. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her loving husband, David G. Nay Jr., whom she married Dec. 20, 1958; a son, Joseph (Becky) Nay of Cortland; a daughter, Tamra (Jeffrey) Deehr of Champion; a brother, Shirley (Tudy) Furby of Elkins, W.Va.; and by two sisters, Patricia (Peter) Crickard of Cleveland and Sharon (Denny) Ware of Florida.

Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Jessica and Andy Deehr and Emily and Abbey Nay.

Martha was preceded in death by a son, David Glenn Nay III.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.
