ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION HOSTS WALK: The Azheimer's Association Greater East Ohio Chapter is signing up teams to participate Saturday in the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

The walk will take place in Perkins Park, 321 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. and the opening ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m.

Individuals from all sectors of the community including healthcare, business, civic and service groups, professional organizations and churches as well as caregivers and family members of those living with Alzheimer's are encouraged to get involved.

There is no cost to sign up. However, the walk offers opportunities for teams and individuals to raise funds for Alzheimer's disease through pledges.

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP TO MEET: A cancer support group meets every third Thursday at Calvary Bible Church, at 2878 Warren Meadville Road, Cortland. The next meeting is 7 p.m. Thursday. For any more information, call Tom at 330-772-3652.

MS GROUP MEETS: The MS Support Group will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at the Knights of Columbus Warren Council, 1947 E. Market St., Warren. HEALTH STORE OFFERS CLASSES: The Vitamin Shoppe, 5704 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles, is hosting classes on health topics that are free to the public.

TODAY: "What Not To Wear" - Toxic chemicals found in some personal care products, such as lotion, shampoo and deodorant, why they may be harmful, and how to make better choices. Bring a personal care product of to be evaluated using muscle testing.

SEPT. 25: "All About Supplements" - How to use supplements, making better choices when choosing supplements, how to navigate through the wide range of supplements and more.

ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS: The Alzheimer's Association will be holding its monthly Caregiver Support Groups on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 E. Market St., Conference Room F, Warren.

CENTER SPONSORS OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS: The Jewish Community Center is sponsoring an ovarian cancer awareness program Oct. 9 in the multi-purpose room of the JCC. The featured speaker is Dr. Kristen K. Zorn. Zorn is a surgical oncologist specializing in gynecological and ovarian cancers, and an assistant professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Magee-Women's Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh. She will be speaking about ovarian cancer awareness. The cost is $18. Hors d'oeuvres, wine and dessert will be served.

NAMI RESUMES REGULAR SCHEDULE: NAMI MV's (National Alliance on Mental Illness) regular schedule for all support group meetings has resumed at the same locations. Evening support groups are held from 7 to 9 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday.

Daytime support groups resume from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of the month.

FLU CLINIC TO BE HELD: A flu clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. daily at Warren West Community Health Center, 716 Tod Ave., Warren. Medicaid and Medicare will be accepted. All others are $20 each. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, call 330-373-0222.

IMMUNIZATION CLINIC OFFERED: The Niles City Health Department will hold an immunization clinic from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. No appointment necessary. Child immunization records are required and Medicaid cards are accepted. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Flu shots are being offered to adults 18 and older from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Health Department. Bring Medicare, Medicaid or Anthem Senior Advantage I.D. cards. Cost is $20 and no appointment is needed.

PROGRAM OFFERED FOR DEALING WITH ISSUES: An eight-step Christian program based on the Beatitudes is open to anyone dealing with a life-controlling habit or issue. It meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays at the Bloomfield Recovery Center, 10113 Creaser Ashtabula Road, Bloomfield. For more details, call 330-599-2402.
