WARREN - Miriam Virginia Davies, 86, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Sept. 15, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Center.
The daughter of Charles and Alberta VanGilder Layman, she was born July 2, 1926, in Bridgeport, W.Va.
On Dec. 8, 1948, Virginia married Harrison Davies Jr., with whom she spent 59 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2008.
A member of Warren G. Harding High School class of 1944, she went on to graduate from the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1948.
She worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital labor delivery and nursery before going on to work as a nurse for the City of Niles until her retirement in 1980.
Virginia enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. She spent her time volunteering and being around her beloved family.
She leaves behind her three daughters, Becky (James) Groves, Patty (Richard Miranda) Mikula and Pam (Kevin) Todd; and her sister, Mary Griffith. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harrison Davies Jr.; and her sister, Kathaleen Welsh.
Arrangements were cared for by Lane Family Funeral Homes Niles Chapel.
