YOUNGSTOWN - Peggy B. Birchfield-Thomas, 68, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Omni Manor after a battle with cancer.
Peggy was born March 20, 1944, in Ashland, Ky., the daughter of John and Doshie Collins Birchfield.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Huntington, W.Va., and retired from Walmart in Boardman.

She is survived by her daughters, Sonya Mukaabya of Youngstown, Rita Tate of Austintown and Erica Williams of Youngstown; her sons, William of Youngstown, James of Accokeek, Md.; her brother, Newman Birchfield of Huntington; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her companion, Bobby Haskins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas; her son, Brian E. Lewis, two sisters and five brothers.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Washington Funeral Home.
