Shuttle service available for concert
WARREN - The Warren Civic Music Association concert series will begin Wednesday with Cornell Gunter's Coasters, the Marvelettes, and Larry Marshak's Tribute to the Platters.
Ellie Monchak with the association said Warren Civic Music has partnered with Community Bus Services to provide shuttles from the Packard Music Hall lower parking areas to the south side of the auditorium. The shuttle service begins at approximately 6:15 p.m. and will run until show time.
The shuttle resumes service after the show to return patrons to their cars.
Black Caucus salutes Supreme Court justice
BOARDMAN - The Youngstown-Warren Black Caucus will hold its fourth annual dinner Sept. 28 at Mr. Anthony's Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave., Boardman.
The dinner will be a tribute to Ohio Supreme Court Justice Yvette McGee Brown, the first black woman to serve on the state Supreme Court. State Sen. Nina Turner, D-Cleveland, will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Bishop Timothy Clarke of Columbus, a civil rights and social activist, will be the featured speaker.
The program will start at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $50 each or a table of eight for $375 and can be purchased by calling Jaladah Aslam at 330-727-5758 or by emailing jaladah3895@aol.com. Ticket sales end Sept. 24. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Motorcyclist injured in crash on Interstate 80
AUSTINTOWN - Traffic was at a standstill in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 Monday morning when a motorcycle went off the road and crashed into a guardrail near the Mahoning-Trumbull county line.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash at about 6:20 a.m., holding up traffic for 30 to 40 minutes in both of the eastbound lanes.
The patrol reported that Scott Sittig, 59, of Canfield, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
