FRIENDS GROUP TO HOST EVENT: The Friends of Mosquito Lake Campgrounds will hold its inaugural Riding for the Park at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event includes 125 miles of scenic riding, dinner, music, door prize, an auction and a 50/50 raffle at Bristol Inn after the ride. ALUMNI GATHERING PLANNED: The 25th annual Hubbard alumni celebration will be held Oct. 13 at the Gallery, 877 W. Liberty St., Hubbard. Donation for dinner and dancing is $30. Tickets are available at local businesses and at the city building. For information, call Mary Ann at 330-534-3105.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP PLANNED: The Kelley-Robb Funeral Home will be starting the 38th series of "Grief Recovery Instructional Support Groups" at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home Care Center, located next to the funeral home. The recovery groups are led by Philip Roland and are open to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. Upon completion of the 10-week program, the participants then enter the secondary group, which is an extension of the instructional groups and is designed to help people rebuild their shattered lives over a long period of time. The groups are not limited to those families served by the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home. There is no cost to attend. Call 330-534-1952.

READING COUNCIL SETS PROGRAMS: The Trumbull Area Reading Council has set its theme and focus for the year's service project: "Inspire Literacy in Our Community." Programs will include "Babes to Readers" to provide a book and gift bag to newborns at Trumbull Memorial; "Community Readers," to provide new children's books to Children's Rehabilitation Center; "Lifelong Readers," to provide large print reading material to Champion Windsor House; and "Magazines for Military," to provide current magazines to troops serving overseas. TEENS COMPETE AT EVENT: From Aug. 12 to 17, seven teens from the Youngstown area competed at the 30th annual Jewish Community Center Maccabi Games in Rockland, N.Y. The event brought together more than 1,250 Jewish teen athletes from around the world. The JCC Maccabi Games is a week-long Olympic-style athletic event providing a combination of sports competition with cultural and social activities. Seven local Jewish teenagers formed Team Youngstown.

BENEFIT TO HELP FOOD BANK: The Armstrong Antlers and Anglers event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Boardman Park's Lariccia Family Community Center. Proceeds will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. Admission is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item. Last year, Antlers and Anglers raised almost $2,000 and more than 700 pounds of food for Second Harvest. The event will feature a 2,500-gallon fishing pond, archery, simulated duck hunting, live animal exhibits, petting zoo, wagon rides, animal mounts, watercraft and guided nature walks. The marketplace will feature vendors, from hunting / fishing equipment to specialty food. Local experts will hold seminars and demonstrations throughout the day. Concessions will be available.
