Jim and Mary Elko of Mecca celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children, family and friends at Maffitt Meadows in Cortland on June 15, 2012.
The celebration was hosted by the couple's three children, Susan (Randy) Rose of Niles, Lori (Jim Moran) Elko of Medina and Jimmy (Amy Horvath and daughter, Cierra) of Warren; and two grandchildren, Dylan and Melanie Rose.
Jim Elko and the former Mary McGann were married June 16, 1962, at SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Church in Warren by Monsignor Sylvester Hladky.

Mr. Elko retired as a captain of the Warren Fire Department in 1993.
Mrs. Elko retired as secretary from SS Peter and Paul School in 1999.
The couple enjoy spending the winter months at Knights Key Campground in Marathon, Fla., and vacations in the summer at Wagar's (Jack's Lake) Ontario, Canada, and Saybrook / Geneva-on-the-Lake.
They are active members of the Moose Lodge of Cortland and at SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Church.
