LIBERTY - Members of the Liberty Wrestling Team spent the end of summer landscaping at all three of the district's schools, working with a local township beautification group.
Wrestling coach and teacher Hadi Hadi said he and the wrestling team, which has students from seventh to 12th grades, worked with Liberty in Bloom volunteers pulling weeds, clearing old branches, trimming shrubs and putting down mulch at the end of summer.
Hadi said the effort was to build community pride and pride in the schools.
He said the materials to do the job, including 21 yards of mulch, were donated by DelliQuadri Landscaping. Tru Green donated the spraying of the garden beds with weed killer and the township donated some of the equipment used by the students and volunteers.
Hadi said working with Liberty in Bloom, the wrestling coaches put together a plan this summer to work on the landscaping in phases that include planting mums for fall color and planting bulbs that will bloom in the spring.
On hand to help students identify what are weeds and what aren't were Liberty in Bloom volunteers Janet Yaniglos and Carol Cupan, who commended the wrestlers for their effort to help make the school properties more attractive for the new school year.
