Scrappers fall in 11 innings

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers led 4-2 through five innings, but the State College Spikes scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game and once more in the 11th to win Tuesday night, 5-4.

Derek Trent began the 11th by doubling off Scrappers reliever Luis Encarnacion (0-2). Walker Gourley sacrifice bunted Trent to second. Pinch-hitter Samuel Gonzalez followed with a base hit for the winning run.

Erik Gonzalez and Richard Stock each had two hits and Gonzalez, Jorge Martinez and Stock drove in the runs for Mahoning Valley (30-44).

The Scrappers conclude their season against State College tonight at 7:05.
