Register for Buddy Walk

ANNUAL BUDDY WALK SET IN WARREN: Putting Downs First will hold the sixth annual Buddy Walk at 2 p.m. Saturday at Perkins Park in Warren. Registration is available at www.puttingdownsfirst.org and also will be accepted the day of the walk starting at noon. Cost is $10 ages 10 and up, and $5 for ages 9 and younger. The event will include a Chinese auction with tickets available at the walk. The walk is being led by the Liberty Golden Leopards Marching Band followed by the Fairhaven cheerleaders, a drum circle and Batman.

SUPPORT GROUP TO MEET: The Hillside Stroke Support Group will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday in Boardman. A pharmacist will answer questions about medication. All stroke survivors and family members can attend. Call Cindy at 330-841-3891.

HOSTESSES SOUGHT FOR FUNDRAISER: The Art Outreach Gallery's benefit dinner will be held Sept. 20 at Ciminero's Banquet Center, Niles. The event will include dinner, fashions and raffles. Benefit dinner hostesses will decorate tables. The fashion show will include styles from Dillards. The $25 ticket donation helps support local arts-based exhibits, events and workshops. AWARD HELPS BACKPACK PROGRAM: Macy's has awarded Second Harvest Food Bank $1,400 through its district grant program to support the BackPack Program in the Warren City Schools, which provides 150 children food to eat over the weekends during the school year. The funds will be used to help sustain the program through the school year. For more information, call 330-792-5522.

FITNESS CLUB OFFERED FOR CHILDREN: The Central YMCA, corner of Commerce and Champion streets, Youngstown, will offer Future Fitness Club, a fitness program for children ages 8 to 13. The club features non-competitive activities to promote healthy fitness and eating habits, safe and gradual weight loss and incentives to help kids meet their fitness goals. Activities include obstacle courses, rope jumping, swimming, relays, games and circuit training. The eight-week program runs Monday through Nov. 12. Club cost is $30 for both Y members and nonmembers. Registration is available at the front desk or by calling 330-744-8411 by Friday.
