TRIBUTE PLANNED FOR ARMED FORCES: Quaker Steak and Lube, 5800 Interstate Blvd., Austintown, will host its sixth annual Patriots Day Bike Nite at 7 p.m. Thursday. The event will pay tribute to men and women in uniform and honor both past and present armed forces.

Among those being honored will be veterans from World War II, Pearl Harbor, Korea and Vietnam. Two POWs, three veterans with Purple Hearts and veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq will be honored. Two local families who lost their sons in combat will attend.

The event will include an American flag brought in by sky diver Capt. Jim Drummond, a military decor display, fire engine 293, which was the only fire truck that survived 9/11 at ground zero, and a 9/11 tribute with Tom Mock.

Motorcyclists will enter bike night through a specially designed entrance.

For more information, call Ken or Danielle at 330-349-9464.

RIBBON CUTTING PLANNED: Trumbull County's Own Diamonds In the Rough will hold a ribbon cutting at noon Saturday at 1429 Parkman Road, Warren.

Activities will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and include guest speakers, children's activities, face painting, water balloon toss, a pie in the face booth, food vendors, and introduction of the organization and staff to the community.

The nonprofit agency provides mentoring programs for middle and high school youth in the Trumbull County area.

GREGG'S GARDEN EXPANDS: Gregg's Gardens yard signs that display the logo have been placed on vacant lots along Atlantic Street to identify the garden locations.

The lots have been sprayed with herbicide and will be seeded later in the summer. The planting of the demonstration site at Elm and Atlantic took place in July.

The Horseshoe Bar hosted a benefit for Gregg's Garden that raised more than $2,000. Because of the large number of Organizers are expecting at least 25 wildflower and native plant gardens in Warren.
