Fri. 10:44am: People filing in for Biden speech

August 31, 2012
Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com

LORDSTOWN - People are starting to file in to the United Auto Workers Local 1714 hall here in advance of Vice President Joe Biden's speech, which is scheduled to begin shortly

The vice president will discuss the choice voters have in this election, "a choice between these two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt."

Last week GM announced it was investing $220 million at two Ohio factories, including the Lordstown facility, to build the next generation Chevrolet Cruze compact car.

Biden has used past Ohio trips to drive home the message of the auto bailout's effect in the state, including a visit earlier in the year to an eastern Ohio Chevy dealership.

The Republican National Committee says in response to Biden's visit that President Barack Obama hasn't offered solutions to the challenges facing Ohio.

Biden is visiting the Mahoning Valley for the second time this year. In May, he spoke at M7 Technologies in Youngstown.
