Kunkel, Klim win Billy Goat Challenge

McDONALD - McDonald's Patrick Kunkel and Poland's McKinsie Klim won individual titles at Saturday's Billy Goat Challenge at Woodland Park.

Kunkel, whose team won last year's Division III state cross country championship, ran a time of 16:44.8. Teammate Bobby Johnson was second in a time of 16:54.3.

Klim ran 20:14.2, while her sister was second with 20:27.9.

Crestwood, CVCA and McDonald took the top three girls team spots, while CVCA, Garaway and Woodridge were the top three boys teams.

SALEM EARLY BIRD: SALEM - Boardman's Mark Hadley ran 16:28.47 to win Saturday's Early Bird at Waterworth Park and led his team to a victory with 36 points.

Howland, led by Ryan Sullivan's fourth-place finish (17:09.23), took second with 63.

South Range's Tim Nichols was second (16:49.64) individually.

Marlington's Tori Reeves won the girls race (20:59.89). Boardman's Jordan Grantonic (21:11.57) and Howland's Taylor Craigo (21:16.17) and Morgan Buckley (21:18.55) round out the top four.

Boardman's girls won the race with South Range and Howland placing in the top three.
